  1. How can I reboot my ATM?  Turn the machine off and on. Often, this will fix any operating issues the machine has (this process is similar to rebooting a computer).
  2. What do I do when my ATM says the “system is unavailable?”   Make sure your phone line is working by plugging in a phone to the wall phone jack and check for a dial tone.
  3. How can I prevent bill jams?  Be sure to inspect the cash before you load it. Bill jams occur when there is tape, staples, tears, or folds in the bills.
  4. How does an ATM transaction work?  The customer requests a withdrawal by inserting his bankcard. The ATM contacts the network, which contacts the customer’s bank. When the bank verifies the customer’s funds, the transaction is approved and the customer receives his cash (both the withdrawal amount and transaction fee are debited from the customer’s account). The transaction is processed through the Federal Reserve’s Automated Clearing House (ACH) and both the transaction fee and withdrawal amount are electronically deposited in the ATM owner’s account.
  5. How do I get my vault cash back? After the withdrawal is approved and the customer receives his cash, the transaction is processed through the Federal Reserve’s Automated Clearing House (ACH) and your vault cash settles into your account on the next business day.
  6. When do I get my commission? Your commission will be automatically electronically deposited into your account on the 10th of the following month.
  7. What kind of preventive maintenance do I need to perform on my ATM?   In addition to keeping your ATM clean, you should clear your ATM’s transaction journal once a month (you will need to keep the printout for at least two months for possible “Reg E Dispute” claims). Your ATM has a finite memory and will shut down if the journal is full.
  8. What is a “Regulation E Dispute?”  A “Regulation E Dispute” (or “Reg E Dispute”) is a claim made by an ATM customer when an ATM is unable to dispense cash. These disputes are very rare, but if this does happen, the first step is to instruct the customer to contact their bank. This starts the process and the customer’s bank takes it from there. (Never give the customer money directly – you might not get it back!)
